information on technology from Chris Papadopoulos

about

Who are you?

Hi, I'm Chris Papadopoulos, a Brooklyn-based web-developer. Here's a self-portrait.

What kind of stuff do you build?

Solving problems with JavaScript and jQuery is my focus. I consider myself more of a front-end engineer, but I also work on back-end systems with PHP, MySQL, and Ruby on Rails and Apache and other technologies. I've also built some killer Chrome and Firefox Extensions too.

What is your focus when building websites?

For me, it's all about usability and performance, and that is what I focus on when programming anything.

What is InformationRain

InformationRain is currently my technical blog and showcase for just a few of the exciting projects I've worked on.

What do you write about on here?

I write about technical problems, various aspects of design, programming and business philosophy, and observations about the technology industry and human nature.

What's your life story?

I was born in Pennsylvania and moved around a lot while growing up. At various times, I also lived in Massachusetts, multiple cities in Pennsylvania, New York, and Greece. My family eventually moved us back to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania where I went to DeSales University (class of 2005) and got a Computer Science degree. Eventually, I moved to New York City, and this is where I currently am.

Why did you end up in New York?

After living in a small town (Bethlehem, Pennsylvania) for a while, I wanted to tackle bigger problems, work on cooler projects, and see more of the world. I can definitely say that living in NYC is pretty cool.

What do you do for fun?

I like playing basketball, watching movies, following a few TV shows, and sometimes playing video games too. I try and fall asleep with a book every night. The various technical meetups we have in NYC are also often very entertaining and informative.

What content-management software is this blog running?

InformationRain is currently running off of a custom content-management system I developed in PHP to fit my needs. Previously I used WordPress, but would much rather not have to wrestle with it when I am not forced to.

Why are most of your articles not visible?

I have to port a bunch of old comments and articles from the old WordPress blog I had and that's really low on my priority list right now. Check back soon.

Chris, you are so handsome, smart, and talented. How can I contact you?

Thanks! Feel free to contact me anytime or just follow my Twitter, @CPops.
